Il Casalone is owned and run by farmers that have lived off this land for many generations. As an "agritourismo", their main income still is the farm on which organic olive oil, safron and various vegetables are produced.
The property (40 hectare!) is located on a hill offering stunning views ranging from Monte Amiata to Montalcino, Pienza and the rolling hills of Tuscany to one side, Lake Trasimeno to Subasio, the Umbrian-Marchigian Appenine to Cosentino on the other.
Montepulciano, Pienza, Val d'Orcia, Monticchiello, Bagno Vignoni and Sant Albino are only a few minutes drive away, Siena, Perugia, Arezzo, and Orvieto, Tuscany’s major cultural art cities, are within an hour’s reach.
Rome and Florence are approximately 2 hours away. The sea is about an hour and a half away.
A short stroll away from the owners house, just distant enough to have total peace and still close enough to drop in whenever you need something, 6 comfortable apartments share the same building. The entrances are to different sides to increase privacy on the verandas outside the apartments and the surrounding 10.000 sq.m. of green areas allow guests to find their individual spot for total privacy.
Away from the apartments, down a short flight of steps, a large pool invites you to take a refreshing dip at any time you wish without disturbing other guests. A spacious barbeque area with big tables offers itself to grill some fresh Tuscan meat on juniper, cypress or pine wood. An organic vegetable garden is to your disposal free of charge.
An independant building some 200 meters away from the apartments, has a spacious laundry room (included in the price) and a storage room offers toys for kids. Guests are welcome to join the farmers on their activities especially during harvesting time. September, October and November are the best months to discover the work and participate in harvesting olives, look for mushrooms or white truffels, but there are plenty of activities going on all year around like the raising of bees and harvesting their honey.
A walk through the 40-hectare of unspoilt nature is a lovely treat when you are on vacation to escape from stress or the hustle & bustle of daily life. The property is surrounded by forests and fields, offering endless options to discover the area on foot, bicycle or car. Montepulciano, one of the most wonderful Tuscan towns, has supermarkets, restaurants, hospital, tourist office, and all other amenities and is only a five minute drive away.
Swimming pools (public), Spa, Tennis courts, horse-riding and mountain biking can easily be done in the proximitiy and of course the surrounding towns offer plenty of opportunities to taste local wines, cheese, olives, olive-oil and many other local products.
The apartments are spacious, traditionally furnished with modern appliences in all bathrooms and very tidy.
The spacious open plan kitchen is fully equipped, inviting you to prepare your own Tuscan dishes.
The 2 bedroom apartment has two separate bedrooms and 1 bathroom.
